Hi, I am Monica

— founder and head of Cornerstone Task.

My journey to starting Cornerstone Task wasn’t exactly what you’d call typical. I actually began by studying Physical Therapy, but I quickly realized that hospital life wasn’t where I was meant to be. In 2007, just as the BPO industry was gaining momentum in the Philippines, I joined one of the pioneering companies in the space. There, I had the privilege of being trained directly by American clients — learning firsthand about effective communication, cultural sensitivity, and professional excellence. I even earned a certification as a dental insurance coordinator for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California.

Way before remote work became the norm, I had already embraced it — mainly so I could be more present for my daughter. One of my first remote roles was with a printing company in Chatsworth, California called Prints Made Easy in 2010. Within a year, I was promoted to Head of Operations. When the company landed a spot on Shark Tank and was eventually acquired by Shutterfly, I was flown to Manila to help train the new operations team.

Next came my time with WaNeLo, an e-commerce startup based in San Francisco. I led the Customer Relations team, where we consistently earned top ratings on Google and TrustPilot. Eventually, I stepped into the role of Country Manager, leading five departments and a team of 35 incredible people.

After eight rewarding years with WaNeLo, I took a leap of faith and launched Cornerstone Task — a company built to provide virtual admin and back-end support to small and medium-sized businesses, especially on the U.S. West Coast. Over time, we’ve grown to serve clients across the U.S., and in 2024, we were thrilled to welcome new partners from Australia, Canada, and the UK.

But Cornerstone Task is more than just a business to me — it’s a mission. As a single mom myself, I’m deeply passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for other women like me: to help them grow in confidence, provide for their families, and flourish as capable, faith-filled individuals.

These days, I live just south of Manila with my amazing daughter Cassie and our dog Mojo. On weekends, we sneak away to a peaceful little cabin in the mountains — our go-to spot for rest and quiet joy.

Thanks so much for stopping by to get to know me a bit more.

I’m so excited about what’s ahead —

for Cornerstone Task and for the remarkable women

who make everything we do possible.
